Marin County Federal Credit Union donates to three local non-profits

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Marin County Federal Credit Union recently donated $1,000 to each of three local organizations through its “Good Plastic” credit card donation program.

“Our recipients are as dedicated to serving the community as we are,” said Elesja Ingwersen, President/CEO. “We’re pleased we can help them help others.”

As part of its “Good Plastic” program, the credit union donates a portion of its net credit card income to select charitable and community groups. Members know the more they use their Visa card, the more the credit union is able to donate. The designated recipients are:

  • Marin County Food Bank Provides nutritious food for local families in difficult circumstances;
  • Marin Advocates for Children Conducts abuse prevention programs and acts as an advocate for abused/neglected children;
  • Marin Humane Society Arranges pet adoptions and provides care, rehabilitation and veterinary support services.

Members can use their Visa Credit Card as they normally would and the credit union will handle all the tracking. The three chosen beneficiary organizations are the Marin Community Food Bank, Marin Advocates for Children and the Marin Humane Society. According to Ingwersen, “We’ve guaranteed each organization a minimum donation of $1,000. Of course, we hope it will be even more!”

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Marin County Federal Credit Union has donated more than $500 to the Marin Community Food Bank, based in nearby Novato.

“Many people are unaware of the hunger problem in Marin County,” says Elesja Ingwersen, President/CEO. “We want to thank our members for helping us make a donation while also raising awareness.”

For each Holiday Loan members took out last fall, the credit union donated $10 to the local food bank, which distributes food to a network of pantries, provides free meals for seniors and children, and distributes holiday food boxes to needy families.

“We appreciate the donation greatly,” said Phil Lastreto, Associate Director of the food bank. “It will help us continue to focus on providing fresh fruits, vegetables and other nutritionally rich food, which are often more costly to obtain.”
